Our Impact

Since being established in late 2020 and becoming operational in February 2021, SPP has created over 200 jobs and produced and distributed more than 310,000 Safepad Packs to women and girls across Afghanistan in partnership with non-profit organisations. SPP’s work plays a crucial role in economically empowering the women and girls who are struggling to support their families financially and are vulnerable to various forms of violence and discrimination. At SPP, 95% of the women employees serve as the primary breadwinners for their households. SPP’s employment program for women benefits them beyond the financial aspect. SPP generates income for vulnerable families while the product preserves dignity and builds confidence. Safepad raises awareness about menstrual hygiene management (MHM) and addresses period poverty through educational materials and social marketing of Safepad.

SPP has proven itself to be a successful business model – local production for local consumption – with opportunities for growth and scale-up, despite the challenging environment. Now, we aim to replicate this model in other provinces of Afghanistan in partnership with development agencies.

MEASURABLE

Data drives our performance and impact. We measure key business metrics, including customer satisfaction, environmental impact, and community development outcomes.

Regular feedback from customers, clients, and partners ensures continuous innovation and optimization, allowing us to scale our enterprise effectively.

PARTICIPATION

Collaboration is at the core of our approach. We actively engage stakeholders—including customers, community members, and development partners.

Their participation ensures that our business solutions are culturally and socially appropriate, relevant, and sustainable, fostering a sense of ownership and loyalty.

ACCOUNTABILITY

We operate on the principles of transparency, openness, and trust with our customers, clients, and development partners.

We hold ourselves accountable to our development partners and clients by reporting on the measurable outcomes and impact. This commitment to accountability builds trust and strengthens our reputation as a reliable social enterprise.

Our reputation is built on the quality and reliability of our products and services. We deliver high-quality, reusable sanitary pads that meet international standards and customer expectations.

By addressing sensitive issues like menstrual health with dignity and respect, we ensure acceptance and lasting change within the communities we support.

“After losing her husband, Gul Bushra was left alone with six children, the youngest just a month old. Desperate and on the verge of giving her baby away to feed the rest of the children, a job at SPP changed everything. Today, she is filled with love and can’t imagine being without her daughter.”
