Every girl deserves the right to an uninterrupted education and to live a life with dignity and pride!

  • The Challenges & Effects

    Extreme Poverty:

According to UNDP, 97% of the Afghan population is at risk of sinking below the poverty line as millions of Afghans have already gone without steady or any incomes. Many of these are women and girls who are the sole earners and contributors to their families livelihoods; therefore, being banned from working has led to devastating poverty for their families. Recurring famine, prolonged drought, earthquakes, and continuous conflict also contribute to extreme poverty.

  • The Challenges & Effects

    Menstrual Health & Hygiene:

Gender inequality, poverty, and sociocultural norms resulted in a lack of investment and attention to Menstrual Health & Hygiene - where women and girls have limited access to sanitary productions and knowledge on Menstrual Health Management.

  • The Challenges & Effects

    Education:

Afghanistan has the lowest literacy rate in the region. 39% of men and only 12% of women can read and write. Socio-cultural barriers and poverty limit women’s access to education, employment, health services, and justice.

  • The Challenges & Effects

    Child and Maternal Mortality:

The child mortality rate in Afghanistan remains among the highest at 74 deaths per 1,000 live births. The maternal mortality rate is also concerningly high at 963 per 100,000 live births according to the World Bank.

Salamati Circle - Pathway to Wellness

  • Afghanistan is witnessing a humanitarian catastrophe with worsening poverty and hunger. This situation has devastated women who were the sole earners and contributors to their families' livelihoods. In such dire circumstances, Safe Path Prosperity has created employment for women, benefiting over 400 household members. Economically empowered women provide basic necessities for their families, including investing in menstrual health and hygiene products for themselves and their daughters.

We provide intensive training in different production processes (stitching & Overlock, Button Placement, Quality Control, and Packing), and marketing.

  • We distributed the 'Gift of Learning Kit' to 380 university students in Farah and Kabul.

  • A safe social network for women to share, engage and prosper, boost self-esteem and improve mental and psychological well-being. Salamati means ‘well-being’.

Since August 15 2021 Afghan women have become more isolated; restrictions on mobility, education bans, employment loss, and constricted social lives increase daily, inducing anxiety, depression, and other negative mental health effects. Lacking access to mental health support, women and girls suffer in isolation, exacerbated by the traumatic experience of being excluded from every walk of society.

Safepad Production Center offers a culturally appropriate safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment for women. It is a workplace that encourages women to engage socially and to share concerns about typically taboo topics such as domestic abuse, mental health issues, and aspirations. Women’s lives are transformed as they prosper.
