Our Work
Safe Path Prosperity’s mission is to transform communities across Afghanistan by investing in women's and girls’ education, employment, and menstrual and reproductive health. Through its Salamati Circle, SPP creates a safe and supportive social network, enabling women and girls to access educational and economic opportunities and live safe and dignified lives.
Women’s Economic Empowerment
Creating dignified employment opportunities for socially and economically vulnerable women in Safepad Production Processes including packaging and quality control, and Social Marketing, and the management of the social enterprise.
ECONOMIC DIGNITY
Income covers essentials such as medicine, food, and education. This financial stability has significantly improved the quality of life of women and their families.
ENHANCED SELF-RESPECT
Women are now empowered to support themselves without relying on financial assistance from family members or neighbors. This transformation has significantly boosted their confidence and social standing within their families and communities.
IMPROVED MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH
A steady income brings security and peace of mind, reducing stress and emotional exhaustion. The social cohesion and community support through the Salamati circle at the center significantly improve mental health, providing a support network many women previously lacked. This sense of community and shared purpose makes women all feel connected and part of a larger cause.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Women have acquired valuable technical and soft skills, enhancing their long- term employability and economic prospects.
Awareness Sessions
SPP has developed the ‘Salamati Curriculum’ in English and Dari languages, covering Menstrual Health & Hygiene Management, Sexual Reproductive Health, Mental and Emotional Health, and Business Management. Women employed at Safepad Production Centers and our Youth Network receive training on these topics during bi-monthly sessions at our Centers in Kabul and Kandahar. The youth plan and conduct awareness campaigns within their communities on these issues, particularly MHM.
INCREASED KNOWLEDGE
Participants gained a crucial understanding of their bodies, reproductive health, and mental well-being, empowering them to make informed decisions.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Our participants can offer support and guidance on MHM and reproductive health issues within their communities, establishing them as local leaders.
MULTILINGUAL RESOURCES
The development of Dari language materials has significantly enhanced the accessibility and effectiveness of the curriculum.
Youth-led Community Awareness Campaigns
As part of our commitment to youth engagement and community outreach and development, SPP facilitates awareness campaigns led by our youth participants. This activity helps strengthen female youth engagement and resilience through capacity development, community outreach, and innovation. The youth, as ‘campaign organisers,’ have become a resource in their communities and built resilience and leadership.
Business Enhancement Program
As part of our commitment to building the capacity of women- led businesses, SPP conducted a three-week ‘Business Enhancement Training Program’ for 20 female entrepreneurs (representing ten businesses in Kandahar) in partnership
with UN Women in October 2024. The 3-week business enhancement training equips the female entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills to expand their operations and marketability. A ‘Business Enhancement Kit’ was also distributed to the businesses, including raw materials and machinery. This support is expected to help businesses increase economic opportunities for other vulnerable women and girls in Kandahar province.
Salamati Mobile App
The Salamati App is a transformative digital platform designed to address the challenges faced by Afghan girls and young women, particularly those restricted by cultural, social, or geographic barriers. It provides a secure and inclusive space where users can access vital resources on business management, entrepreneurship, social marketing, mental health awareness, menstrual hygiene management (MHM), and reproductive health. The app enables young women to gain knowledge and skills from the safety of their homes, overcoming traditional barriers to education and development. In addition to its educational offerings, the app features a chat room for peer engagement and a Resource Directory connecting users with experienced business coaches and healthcare professionals. These features empower girls to develop financial independence, foster confidence, and actively contribute to their families and communities.
The Salamati Circle, a dedicated women-to-women network within the app, adds another layer of impact by creating a culturally appropriate, supportive community for engagement and collaboration. This network promotes leadership and economic empowerment by encouraging users to participate in initiatives like the social marketing of Safepad, helping to reshape perceptions of menstruation in rural areas. By facilitating these discussions and promoting access to menstrual health resources, the Salamati Circle drives social change while supporting women's health and dignity.
Additionally, the network fosters mentorship and shared learning, enabling women to build meaningful connections and strengthen their emotional and social well-being. The Salamati Circle not only creates a safe space for mutual support but also cultivates leadership and resilience, furthering the app’s mission to empower Afghan women and girls.
